FAQ
What is
Biodynamic Bodywork?
Biodynamic bodywork is my personal synthesis of
bodywork modalities and principles, crafted into an approach
of working with every person in their uniqueness. While
each bodywork modality offers valuable principles and techniques,
I have found that real change and healing lie beyond any
particular set of rules. I have taken the value in all that
I have learned and I apply it as it best serves each of
you, my clients.
The name Biodynamic Bodywork
comes from bio, which means “life,” and dynamic
being the “power of motion.” Biodynamic Bodywork
touches and utilizes the motive force of life to bring you
relief and healing.
What is your practitioner philosophy?
My mission is to liberate your fundamental health, restoring
the natural harmony between body, mind and spirit. We work
together in partnership, since our relationship is a key
to your healing. I can help you find answers, or sometimes
the right questions, that can propel you into a healthier
life.

How
can Biodynamic
Bodywork help me?
Biodynamic bodywork is beneficial to people with
different needs and goals, including:
- Chronic and acute pain and disease.
- Stress management and reduction.
- Health building and personal growth.
If you experience pain from illness, injury and trauma
you can benefit because my work positively affects the central
nervous system, restoring balance and decreasing sensitivity
to pain. My shock
and trauma resolution skills are often a key component
in effectively reducing your pain. At the same time your
body’s natural repair functions are enhanced through
an increase in energy. Biodynamic Bodywork will
specifically activate and support your immune system through
building your overall body vitality. I will work in alliance
with your other providers to ensure you the best possible
care.
Stress management
and reduction is an essential component to healthy living.
Stress is said to be responsible for up to 85% of all disease,
since it is debilitates the body, as well as our emotional
and mental life. The stress response is a biological survival
mechanism that can be inappropriately triggered by events
in daily life. Working together we can reset this mechanism,
giving you greater resiliency in the face of life’s
stressors and allowing you to enjoy again your family, your
work and your play.
Health building
is a personal process of establishing a higher level of
daily function through bodywork, diet, exercise and self-awareness,
resulting in a healthier life. Along with bodywork sessions,
we design life-style changes that fit easily into your life.
Taking responsibility for your own health gives you a new
relationship to your life, allowing you to be the source
for your own health and happiness.

How many sessions will I need? How often
are sessions scheduled?
When you contact me to schedule your initial appointment
we will spend some time on the phone reviewing your situation
and beginning to plan our work together. We will continually
review your progress at each session and make appropriate
adjustments to the schedule.
Initially we will schedule several sessions on a weekly
basis to create therapeutic momentum. As you progress the
schedule will open up to a bi-weekly or monthly basis. The
specific situation you bring to our work, and your innate
healing resources are naturally the biggest factors in both
scheduling and the number of sessions we’ll need together.
Here are some further guidelines. Acute injury or illness
can often clear in one or two sessions, while chronic conditions
and deeper illness require a longer series of regular sessions
over a period of months. Once you reach your goals, you
may wish to come in occasionally to maintain or deepen into
the positive changes you have made.
Stress management work begins with weekly or bi-weekly
sessions, then expect the scheduling to open up to where
you’ll come in monthly or bi-monthly, or just when
you feel a need for a “tune-up.” Health building
work often follows the same scheduling trajectory as stress
management work. I believe strongly that prevention, through
session work and the regular application of other healthful
tools, is a wise investment in our life and health, the
most precious resource we have.

What does a session look like?
Your initial session begins with a consultation so we can
establish a clear plan for meeting your therapeutic needs
and goals. Each session includes a brief consultation to
set the goals for the session, to review our past work and
to see what is current in your life.
You receive this bodywork fully clothed, and I do not use
massage oil or lotion. Wear something comfortable (you can
bring along clothes and change before the session) for lying
down on the session table. I may work with you sitting in
a chair, and even standing up, to best meet your needs.
Bodywork touch takes the form of both general contacts
and contacts at specific areas of pain or injury. I often
utilize patterns of relationship between different areas
of the body, and I will also work indirectly, touching near
but not directly at places where you experience symptoms.
I employ three types of touch to eliminate stagnation and
blockage in the body’s flow of life energy:
Gentle: soft contact that is supportive,
balancing and deeply relaxing.
Active Touch: gentle motion generates
movement of energy, eliminates stagnation in tissues and
facilitates positive change and progress.
Deep: deep touch addresses the body’s
resistance, which is the source of pain and inhibitor
of progress. This touch awakens self-healing responses
to entrenched situations.
How long is a session?
I work in a one-hour time frame. Of that 30 to 45 minutes
will be bodywork, the rest our time is reserved for consultation
and goal-setting.

How do we establish therapeutic goals?
Setting therapeutic goals is important, as they provide
the structure around which we plan your sessions. I would
encourage you as my client to tell me what is missing your
life that was previously available, what you would like
to experience and what you believe being healed means to
you. We will work together to translate these ideas into
specific goals.
Specifically a goal might look like 75% pain reduction,
sleeping 7+ hours a night, or being able to interact with
a friend or relative without becoming overwhelmed by stress
or emotions, to name a few possibilities. I will help you
set realistic goals and meet them through our work together.

What other tools do you offer in conjunction
with Biodynamic Bodywork?
Along with bodywork, I will provide you with tools and
strategies to support yourself. These may include stretching
or strengthening exercises, suggested dietary changes, methods
for clearing emotions or even pointers on reframing your
thoughts about a situation. One or two carefully chosen
resources can make a big difference in your life, and my
goal is to support you both during and after our sessions.

What is the cost of a session?
My session fee is $100. For your convenience you can pay
by cash, check or Visa/Master Card.

When are you available for sessions?
I am in my Denver office Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I have appointments
